The North Wilts Summer Sixes Hockey Festival is a friendly & competitive 6-a-side hockey competition with free camping held in Swindon, Wiltshire. In 2018 it will be the weekend of 6 – 8 July. Keep the date free!
The 6-a-side matches are fast & fun affairs. The matches take place on a third of a pitch, using full size goals, rolling substitutes and most of the normal hockey rules. Think of a blend of indoor hockey style, energy and pace, but played outside! Squads are a maximum of 12 players. Matches are officiated by our own qualified umpires and are centrally timed. This means that you can concentrate on your hockey (or other activities – as there is a fully licensed bar pitch-side).
The format of the competition is designed to make sure that all teams play as much hockey as possible. We generally start with a league competition followed by two knockout competitions for a cup for the stronger teams and a shield for those who err on the side of having fun above all else! This way all teams will get their fair share of pitch time.
All the matches are played on the sand-based astroturf pitch at Dorcan Leisure Centre in Swindon.
We have FREE camping available a short distance away at Swindon Rugby Club where the evening entertainment will be.
Register your teams!
We have a fully licensed bar on site during the day and we use the Rugby Club to continue festivities to truly get your night started in style. Each night we also have after-parties in the town centre’s best bars and clubs!
Events on Friday and Saturday include team games, DJ’s, followed by FREE ENTRY to SUJU nightclub. A FREE hot dinner is included on Saturday night (with Vegetarian option available).
The legendary fancy-dress competition is also on the Saturday night, where winning top prize is everything! See videos from previous years to get an idea!
With bacon baps to aid recovery in the mornings and an all day BBQ on-site, we’ll keep you well-fuelled throughout the day.
