We want you to have fun and play some fantastic hockey.  With this in mind, there do have to be some rules:

  • Arrival from 4pm Friday 7th July 2017. Fun & drinking that evening. Two full days of hockey Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th.
  • 6-a-side games (including a goal keeper). Maximum squad size of 12.
Note that you pay per team, not per person. So the more people you bring, the cheaper it is per person!
  • Team cost & place is confirmed when full payment is taken. See our costs page for full details
  • The pitch is at Dorcan Leisure Centre, Swindon
  • Camping is available at the Swindon Rugby Club
  • Saturday night entertainment at our club is included
  • Saturday night will include a Free Hot meal, including a vegetarian option if requested.
  • Matches for the 2016 tournament will start at 10.00a.m on Saturday 8th July. You will need to register at 9.30a.m.  (Final details of when teams are playing will not be known until the day). Awards will be presented at approx. 3.30p.m on Sunday.
  • The format of the tournament will hopefully see the men’s and ladies entries split into two pools in which they will play a round robin. These round robin matches will run until approx. Sunday lunchtime. After, the number of entrants into each competition will determine the format of the classification matches.
  • For 2017 permitted squad sizes will remain at 12 players.  This is to make sure that the same squads are utilised over the 2-day tournament period. Points could be deducted if the committee feel any unfair advantage is gained by additional/substitute players over the weekend. No ringers!
  • A variety of shirt colours will, we hope, be on display again this year and there may be some clashes.  So please also bring a WHITE strip.
  • Team Captains are fully responsible for the welfare of their teams both during and after the tournament ends each day and during the social evening. All participants are expected to act responsibly.
  • A condition of entry is that it is accepted that photos will be taken over the weekend, which NWHC cannot control.  If you have U18’s in your squads please ensure that the appropriate consents are in place.
  • The penalty flick competition will take place at Saturday Lunchtime.  £1 entry – the money goes to charity.
  • The ‘Stick Club’ will be present for all your hockey equipment needs for the forthcoming season.
  • Food and drinks will be available to purchase pitch side; There is a fully licensed bar pitch side; there will be no selling of alcohol to U18’s and none should be bought on their behalf.  Should any player be luckily enough to look under the age of 21 we advise that ID is brought.
  • In order to comply with the requirements of our licence, and Dorcan Leisure Complex Rules, we require that no other alcoholic drinks are brought to and consumed on site. (Any found will be removed from you and will not be returned. If this is repeated then your team’s ongoing presence in the tournament may be prejudiced). Please no BBQ’s or open fires on site or at the rugby club.
  • A representative from NWHC will carry out a Health & Safety audit in line with our procedural requirements.  In the event of an emergency all players including spectators and officials are to leave the playing area immediately without belongings and assemble in the school playing field as directed, team captains are to carry out a roll call and report any absences to the tournament officials.
  • Overnight camping is available at the Rugby Club; (Consumption of your own Alcohol is allowed on the campsite, but in order to comply with the requirements of our licence at the RUGBY CLUB, we request that no alcoholic drinks from the CAMPSITE are bought into and consumed within the RUGBY CLUB); this is where the Saturday night entertainment and Free hot meal will be available (This event & food is included within the entry price).
  • The Saturday evening entertainment theme is “Farming and the West Country”
  • Our sponsor venues are licenced premises and so there are age restricitions in place. This is a legal requirement. Please see their websites below for more information.
